The Challenge:
Each Challenger is asked to create something using the specified crochet stitch as the main focus in their design. Along with the stitch, they are given a Theme to design around. They may use combinations of stitches as long as the given stitch remains dominant in the design.
The Battle:
Designers have 2-3 weeks to create something fun with the specified crochet stitch and theme. At the end of the 2-3 weeks, they submit unmarked photos for judging. All designs are to remain unseen during this process until the winner has been chosen. Designers may allow 3 others to test their designs during the challenge as long as they are not testing for any other challenger AND they must keep secret what the design is and their photos must remain between them and the designer.
Selecting a Winner:
Judge's Choice - A panel of Judges are shown the Challenger's photos. Each design is then given a score from each Judge based on 4 categories - Best overall, Best use of stitch, Best use of color to show the stitch and Most creative/unique to theme. The scores are totaled and the design with the highest score is our winner of the that round.
Fan's Choice - We love hearing what our fans think of the designs from each round! You will have a chance to vote for your favorite design. The Challenger who's design receives the most fan votes will be considered the Fan's winner.
Prizes:
Each round will have a Judge's Choice AND Fan's Choice winner who will receive a wonderful prize package of various items. We will also have a Fan's choice winner who will receive a prize package and a large amount of prizes for our fans who interact during the few weeks of the Battle. Prizes range from wooden crochet hooks, clay crochet hooks, stitch markers, yarn, Autographed crochet books, crochet patterns and more. In the event that the Judge's winner and Fan's winner is the same, the 2nd prize will be awarded to the Judge's Runner-up challenger.
Publishing:
Each round of the Battle of the Stitches will be published in Too Yarn Cute Magazine. This is such a wonderful chance to see all of the designs in one place! Challenger's designs are not to be released individually until 3 weeks after the release of the magazine AND they must NOT be offered as a free pattern. We appreciate this opportunity and hope that you will enjoy learning different stitches along with us.
